I’m a 16 yr old first time blogger and an artist, who wants to use this blog to be able to share my work and exciting experiences of my life and art.
Someone asked me, once, if I ever used art to raise awareness for a cause, at that time I hadn’t, but it made me think.
One such experience, close to my heart, which I’d like to share is when I accompanied my mother, a volunteer at a NGO (Non Governmental Organisation), to a local government school. She teaches basic subjects such as English and Math to help fight illiteracy.
After the class, two children came up to me. They were aware of my art (courtesy: my mom) and asked me to teach them how to draw. I was a little hesitant at first, but then they handed over a small, dirty, half torn book. I opened it to find myself delighted with drawings of everyday objects made by these two little 10 year olds. I could feel their interest and passion for art which invoke a strange feeling inside me. I really wanted to help them out.
I requested the principal of the school to let me hold a brief art class where I can teach the kids some very basic fundamentals which could help in evolving their skills. They needed someone to guide them and I wished to be their lighthouse. Soon, to my delight, I received the permission from the principal to hold an art class. I’m very excited to teach these children new things and maybe, hopefully, give them a new reason to attend school. This experience was a very important one as it humbled me and gave my art a new meaning.
Let’s spread the positive movements of change and help create a world of kindness and compassion that makes our world more beautiful.
